six3twelve: Donna and Mike and Their Brewery Wedding

We met these two just before Christmas last year. When we were getting ready to go meet them for the first time, Donna said in her email, “don’t worry, you’ll be able to find us, we’ll be the redheads with the baby.” Sure enough, we had no trouble spotting them. As we met with them and started to hear some of the details of their wedding, we were excited. From the handmade details, the cool colors, the games instead of typical reception dancing and the overall brewery and beer theme, we were stoked. To find the ideal location, Donna and Mike did their homework regarding breweries; they scouted nearly every brewery location in Colorado looking for the perfect venue for their nuptials. Rough job, right? Their search landed them in Aurora at Dry Dock Brewing Company. Out of all of locations, this was the place that took the cake.

To start the day, I (Abbi) met Donna and her Bridesmaids at the hotel where they were getting ready.

five9twelve: Lots and Lots of Family

I intended to sit down and write this many times in the last few weeks. Unfortunately, our children contracted nasty cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease that totally laid them out. It was painful and overall just a terrible experience for our whole little fam. The littlest one is nearly through her round of it and we are so excited. We can come out of quarantine finally! Yay!

Moving on, a few weeks back, we hooked up with these fine folks at Waneka Lake Park in Lafayette (yes, again) to do an extended family session. We know one of these people quite well, she’s our niece! And we have spent time with the others several times over the last few years. They are all such lovely people. They are also quite funny. We had so much fun photographing them…we just love sessions like this.

Let’s get started with some whole family shots:

five5twelve: Brother and Sister

It’s been a while since we’ve blogged. Shame on us! Truth be told, we were just waiting for the good stuff. Lately, our days have been filled with lots of design (which we’ll share soon) and not as much photography. It goes like that sometimes. But the pendulum has swung back the other way and we have been shooting like crazy. So, here is blog post #1 of many more to come.

Let’s take a peek at Tommy and Brooke.  These two kept us on our toes. No…that’s not even right…they kept us in our running shoes! Brooke was incredibly excited to have joined the bipedal world, and she was ready to show off her new skills. And let me tell you, this girl can MOVE. And she can move fast! She’s doing what a girl has to do to keep up with her busy big brother. Speaking of the big brother, his name is Tommy and he’s a tough, no-nonsense kind of dude. He wasn’t giving up those smiles for nothin’! Ha!

We have to say it, we LOVE taking photos of little ones who are these ages (3 and 1). It’s a challenge, but it is so rewarding. Getting a genuine smile or a purposeful look from a 3-year old who would rather be doing 5 million other things rather than being photographed by two random people…there’s nothing like it. And being able to capture the very fast, very sweet, very joyful (and fast…did we say she was fast?) spirit of a rambunctious 1-year old is incomparable. Our adventure took place at Waneka Lake Park in Lafayette. It was a gorgeous Colorado evening and we had such a fun time.

Anyway, say hello to Tommy and Brooke 🙂

Super Cool Flash Mob Proposal

Corwin here, taking the blogging reigns once again…

A few weeks ago, Cody, one of my coworkers at my day job, asked if I would be interested in photographing his proposal to his girlfriend, Tasha. This would have made our first time photographing a proposal and I was excited about the opportunity. This was even before I knew all of the details of his master plan. So after I met with him at the location (City Park) and went through all the logistical pieces and found out how long he had been planning this (at least 4 months) and how many friends and family had been involved (a ton) and just all of the time and details (he choreographed the whole dance, recorded himself doing it and sent that family and friends so they could learn it)…I couldn’t wait (and I also maybe felt a little one-upped in the proposal department, can I get a re-do 6 and a half years later?!). Anyway, Cody’s big plan was a surprise flash mob proposal Um, awesome.

The song he picked was Marry Me, by Bruno Mars. You can hear it on youtube. Might as well have it playing in the background while you scroll through.

The dancers met early to practice their moves as a group.

They all synched together easily and looked great. After a few more practice rounds, word came that Cody and Tasha were on their way (they live near this park and were going to a “festival” that was “being held at the park”), so everyone took their spots and waited. Along came Cody and Tasha on their leisurely afternoon stroll to the “festival.” See them? He’s in blue, she’s in white:

Oh, hey…look what they stumbled upon…Tasha is stunned and I’d be willing to bet she remained in a state of shock the rest of the day.

Not forever. Oh no, we’ve been there. We just want your baby for an hour, or so…

two5twelve – Chip & Natalie are Engaged!

We have been waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting for snow since early January when we first met with these two southern lovebirds to set up an engagement shoot and discuss invite design for their Nashville nuptials. It finally did snow late last week. But it wasn’t just a little storm, oh no, we got a blizzard that dropped 18 inches of snow in our backyard. It’s like the snow made up for the lack of snow from the previous month and dumped all of it in one fell swoop. Still, we were all down to make it happen (even Chip and Natalie’s pooch SoCo got in on the fun). And make it happen we did. Chip and Natalie are troopers who did not utter one complaint while trudging through knee-deep powder in 15 degree starting temperatures. It was worth it, what a pretty scene all that snow made for…

We’re Alive + A Mini Valentine’s Day Shoot

We’re here. We’re alive and well. We took several weeks off for the holidays and beyond that, we have been busy with consultations, invite packages and our website redesign (check it out, we’re 90% done: www.ten7six.com). I guess you can say that we’ve been doing a lot of ‘behind the scenes’ work. Not to worry, though, we’ll be…what’s the opposite of behind the scenes…In front of the scenes? Before the scenes? Whatever. You get the idea. We’ve got some fun shoots coming up along with some great design work by the business partner that we’ll be showcasing soon (I cannot wait to show you all this latest invite package he just finished! It’s so very lovely). In the meantime, here are  few photos of our girls that we did a bit ago. I know every parent believes this of their own children, but my good lord, we have cute kids.

eleven26eleven: The M & K Families

One of our favorite clients hooked us up with her brother and sister-in-law and their two tiny tots. We headed to their house and made their living room into a studio to get a bunch of photos of the girls and the family. They had some cool props all prepared for us and we made a lot happen in an hour.

The girls are less than a year apart. The oldest just had a her first birthday and her baby sis is 1 month old. We’ll celebrate the 1-year old first . She is such a ham (check out that cute ‘1’ box her daddy made for her):

eleven26eleven: The R Fam at The Curtis

The Business Partner here. I’m taking the reigns with this one because I tackled it all by my lonesome. We had a last minute babysitter cancelation so Ab stayed back with the girls while I headed out to The Curtis to photograph these fine folks. I should also add that Andrea and I go way back. All the way back to high school. She was a class ahead of me. It was cool to see her after such a long time. One thing we discovered is that we have the same great taste in girls’ names. Before we get to the photos, I have to throw out a big, huge thank you to The Curtis. We have done a few photos there before for a denver wedding we photographed, but I really got to  spend some time there with this round and it was beyond great. The staff = awesome and the venue = awesome. What more can you ask for? Pictures, you say? Let’s do it:

eleven14eleven: Wedding Dress Dress Up!

I’m obsessed with Pinterest. If you haven’t been on there yet, I highly suggest you make it happen. Some might call it a time-sucker, but I call it an amazing place to gather inspiration as well as being a giant time-sucker. All in all, it has an incredible impact on my life and I have no idea how I have survived so long without it. Seriously.

Moving on, while on Pinterest a few months back, I found a photo of a lovely little girl in her mom’s wedding dress. What an awesome idea! I needed to make it happen (especially since the business partner and I plan to trash my dress in another photo session here very, very soon). And so, I had a little time free up earlier this week and the girls and I got to “work.” Random aside:  Neither of my girls would even entertain the idea of me doing their hair. This is currently a reoccurring theme in our house, and I don’t know why. There was no point in fighting them, so we made do with a simple barrette. Annnnnnywho, here are my beautiful little girls in my wedding dress:

Aren’t they the cutest things you have ever seen in your life?!?! I can hear you screaming “OMG, Abbi! YES!” at your computer screen now. I know. Don’t ask me how I made such beautiful blonde haired/blue eyed babies, because I don’t know. But I (I guess it’s “we” technically) did and I (we) couldn’t be more pleased with myself (ourselves).
