Dave and Shea are Colorado transfers. She comes from Minnesota and him from Michigan. They also spent a good chunk of their lives together in New York. They have a close, eclectic (highly accented) group of people they call family and friends. And for their wedding, they wanted them all there. As many of us know, planning a wedding is tons of work. That work gets intensified when 90% of your guests are flying in from all over. So, to make things a little more fun and interesting, they decided to have a whole wedding weekend centered around family and friends. It was reunion style and it was executed perfectly. The invite package (designed by yours truly with lots of input from Shea) started it all off way back when. It included a guide-book; A Colorado how-to loaded with information about lodging, activities and wedding weekend itineraries.
A few things to note:
1. There was really no wedding party. Each had someone stand up with them, Shea had her sister, Kala and Dave had his good friend, Eric and that was it. The rest of their guests were made to feel like a big part of it all.
2. These two are big time DIY’ers and nearly every aspect of their wedding was made by them. It was personalized to a ‘t.’
We arrived a bit early and got down to it. Abbi headed off to hang out with Shea and the ladies and Corwin photographed Dave and the guys.
